He was a great freedom fighter and national patriot. He was born in 1897, completed his school from Cuttack, matriculation degree from Calcutta and B.A. degree form University of Calcutta (1918). He went to England in 1919 to persue his studies. He was highly influenced by Chittaranjan Das and soon joined freedom struggle of India. Because of his active participation, he was elected as All India Youth Congress President and Bengal State Congress Secretery
