The Invisible Man

The question of invisibility has always fascinated and challenged scientist. Today they are perhaps closer to discovering the secret behind it than ever before. In H.G. Wells' story, a scientist name Griffin stumbles upon the formula. But the joy of his discovery is short-lived. He become invisible but soon it become a curse, alienating him from other human beings. He falls into a life of crime, and nemesis soon catches up with him. The story is relevant for modern times too for it illustrates what the world has always known - that many a scientific invention is like a double-edge sword, with the potential for doing good as well as harm. It all depends on what we do with it.
